Background & Context
Background
According to the 2018 National Government skills audit, there was a 95 % shortage in medical and healthcare personnel. Zimbabwe needs more skilled medical and health professionals for the efficient delivery of essential health interventions and services.
There is need for training programs to cover gaps within the medical and health services industry and in particular the area of mental health service provision. Furthermore, healthcare technology necessitates a new way through which educators must disseminate knowledge and assess skills needs in together with curriculum needs to address health care delivery and make it accessible both financially and geographically.
Delivery
Modes of service delivery other than traditional face to face learning are necessary to make use of new diagnostic and treatment modalities. There is a need for healthcare providers to have adequate training and exposure, to provide culturally sensitive service to consumers especially for recipients of mental health care and their families/ supporters.
Centre for Applied Mental Health is a principal provider of accessible mental health care services to individuals, organizations, corporates, and communities.
